Self‐decoupling coupled‐fed patch antennas for 5G multiple‐input multiple‐output applications

Self-decoupling coupled-fed patch antennas are designed in this letter. The self-decoupling mechanism is based on the weak-field region formed by T-shaped probe feed and radiating of antenna element itself. When another identical placed region, high isolation between two elements can be achieved without adding extra decoupling structures. To validate mechanism, a dual-element array initially built an level better than 30 dB over impedance band 3.3–3.66 GHz with spacing 0.53λ0. Next, four-element multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) linear presented to further verify method good performance also obtained, which demonstrates that proposed designs candidates for 5G MIMO applications.
